Come join BLAGSS Unity FC, fun LGBTQ+ football for all abilities
Since the start of 2021, we’ve been meeting for an all-age (18+), all-ability, all-gender game of friendly football every Saturday morning at 11am, come rain or shine (mainly rain). In 2023, we adopted an official name for our team – BLAGSS Unity FC.
From small beginnings, BLAGSS Unity FC has grown to become a vibrant, friendly and welcoming group drawn from all corners of the LGBTQ+ community. We’re a mix of people who have been playing football for years and years, and people who only started persuading the ball towards the goal in the last month or two. Somehow, we manage to play a game that everyone can be a part of, that isn’t too serious but still celebrates goals and claps headers.
Even though we now have a funky set of kit (with huge thanks to Lyle and Scott’s Kits for Clubs scheme), we’re still the same informal, friendly and fun all-ability, all-gender group we’ve always been.
New members are always welcome (as long as you’re over the age of 18), and each session starts with everyone sharing their name and pronouns so we can introduce you to everyone properly. It’s a great way to get fit, meet new people and explore the hedgerows of East Brighton as we stop the game to rescue the ball.
When?
Every Saturday, 11am - 12pm but come a bit earlier to say hi and get warmed up!
Where?
The Manor Sports Centre, Manor Road, Brighton BN2 5EA
What do I bring?
Normal shorts and t-shirt are fine (although if you have a beloved replica kit, wear that!). Most of us wear astroturf boots and shinpads but you'll be fine in trainers. We even have changing rooms!
How much is it?
Your first session is free and then it's £5 a time after that.
